         Is your child starting Big School?

Ask your child their spelling words.
Play rhyming games … what rhymes with …
Play number plate games, finding doubles / addition …
Counting forwards, backwards …
Activities to do in the morning …
Ask left and right … (possibly put a star on the inside of their right or left shoe – or write a R and L)
Following instructions (multi level commands)
Activities to do in the kitchen …
Letter formation and spelling words in a tray filled with sand, rice or bran (tactile)
Measurement while cooking
Ask your child which is more / less / heavier / lighter
Count down with the microwave
Use a timer
Sort items into categories (colour, shape, size …)
Spelling using magnetic letters on the fridge​
